You can walk the walk

I’m walking down Guadalupe. The traffic light turns red and the walk sign flashes white, signaling the okay for pedestrians to cross Guadalupe. At the exact instant, the 24th Street traffic light flashes green, permitting drivers to turn onto Guadalupe. Conflict? I think so.

Though this happens on a repetitive cycle every fifty seconds, a particularly disgruntled driver proclaimed his impatience with a honk directed to the innocent pedestrians.

Much to the amazement of the driver, a pedestrian actively took a stance against such blatant victimization. In the middle of the street, car in motion, he turns and slaps the driver’s side window! With one swoop of the fist, the pedestrian hit the car. Oh, the irony. I wish I was close enough to see the surprise on the driver’s face as the pedestrian glared at him through the glass.

It’s the little moments in life that keep me amused.

Full Moon

I borrowed Maddy’s (my dad’s co-worker) truck for a film shoot and left my car at his house. After two weeks of driving an enormous piece of ancient machinery that requires gunning the engine before it starts, I decided I couldn’t take anymore Austin Power’s 20-point-turns to get out of parking spaces. The other day, a friend and I drove out to The Middle Of Nowhere, TX to pick up my car.

By the time we were miles from civilization, I had to pee pretty badly. Both Truck and Geo were parked in the driveway, deep into Maddy’s property. Completely shielded by the pitch black night, I dropped trou and relieved myself.

It was at this time that the motion sensitive floodlights illuminated the entire yard including my squatting ass. There I was, like a half-naked, peeing deer in headlights, for everyone to see.

Luckily “everyone” consisted of Cristina and Maddy’s dogs. None-the-less, we all had a good laugh.

La Directora

Wow. It's been a while since my last trip down Blog lane. Though that's not news to all my devout readers...(cricket, cricket)

So where did I leave off. Oh, yes. Cristina. Man, it's a shame we're not friends anymore. Whoa, I hope she doesn't read this. That could be awkward.*

Speaking of moving on, I just finished watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...for the sixth time. If you haven't seen it, GO! Rent it, buy it, DO IT! If you have seen it, call me. Let's talk about it. I'm just exactly where I want to be.

The reason I haven't been bloggin' it stems from my complete captivation on movies I'm making or those which are made much better than my ability permits- ie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, promotional plug #2, rent it today in stores near you. Back to the movie I'm making; working with little kids is fun, but requires a lot of energy. The most rewarding part of the day was when the entire crew stopped what they were doing, right before I called action, and watched nine-year-old Jill Vera pick shapes out of the clouds. Only the untainted imagination of youth could identify a baby gorilla sliding in ice or a guinea pig face with a black eye.

Advice for the day #1: slip back into childhood every chance you get.

*Era un chiste! Ja, ja, ja! No me crees. Todavía somos mejores amigas.
